Lille Project

Marthe and Marie's House

La Maison de Marthe et Marie is a non-profit organization established under the French Law of 1901 and founded in 2010 by a midwife. It supports pregnant women in need by offering them an innovative, affordable housing solution: shared housing based on mutual support.

This housing solution enables pregnant women facing difficult circumstances (financial instability, isolation, housing issues, loneliness, unplanned pregnancy, etc.) to carry their pregnancies to term in a warm and safe environment: spacious apartments with 6 to 8 bedrooms.

Young women (who are not pregnant), aged 23 to 35, commit to living with the women in the program on a daily basis while continuing to work outside the shared living space.

Project

Renovation and beautification work has been carried out at the “Colocation du Nord,” which opened in 2017, first in a small apartment in Villeneuve-d’Ascq, and then, in 2019, moved to a location in the heart of downtown Lille. Now, in a large family home featuring eight spacious bedrooms, a triple living room, and a garden, mothers, volunteers, and babies enjoy peaceful moments together.
