France Handicap Association

The APF France Handicap association brings together people with disabilities, their families, and able-bodied individuals. A pioneer in the field of disability, the association was founded in 1933 by four young people with polio who faced a society in which nothing was planned or adapted for them. Based on humanistic values of respect, openness, and solidarity, and advocating for equality and community living, the association operates on several levels:

  • Advocacy for the rights of people with disabilities
  • Combating the prejudice they face
  • Daily support in all areas of life (accessibility, education, employment, health, etc.) throughout France.

Project

The Jacques Bourgarel residential facility provides care for 45 adults with physical disabilities, with or without associated conditions. The facility offers two types of housing: private rooms within the facility itself, as well as detached units located near the facility. A multidisciplinary team addresses the needs of residents regarding all aspects of their daily lives. Major cleaning, painting, and decorating work within this facility.
