Wake Up Café

Founded in 2014, Wake up Café is a nonprofit organization with 9 locations in France (Paris, Marseille, Lyon, Lille, Nantes, etc.). It supports current and former inmates in achieving lasting reintegration and preventing recidivism, with an 87.4% success rate in keeping people out of prison.
Its support is comprehensive and tailored to each individual, both inside and outside prison:

  • Preparation for release from detention: art and cultural workshops, etc.
  • Full-time services at its locations: mornings dedicated to job preparation, group lunch, and afternoons devoted to personal growth
  • Unlimited support over time, until full reintegration into society

Project

At a facility in Marseille, a team works closely with the “wakers” to provide personalized support aimed at helping them make a lasting change in their lives. At this site, the project involves: – painting, cleaning windows and walls, – assembling shelves and installing fixtures (towel rods, toilet bowls), – landscaping the rooftop vegetable garden. Number of volunteers needed: 15.
