Foundation: A Look Back at the 8th Annual Solidarity and Housing Day!

On September 21, 2018, as part of Solidarity and Housing Day, an annual national event, seven community-based renovation projects were carried out.

This event once again demonstrated the Foundation’s and its employees’ commitment to combating substandard housing and homelessness and to improving the quality of life for those most in need.

“The Foundation was able to count on 150 volunteers (including nearly 80 Group employees) for this year’s event. Without them, none of this would have been possible. “A big congratulations and thank you for contributing to the success of these wonderful projects. It is always a source of great pride to see Group employees coming together to help those most in need,” said Caroline Orofino Moheng, Deputy Director of the Onet Foundation.

At 8:30 a.m., the employees participating in this year’s event gathered for the8th edition to carry out community service projects in the seven host cities.

In Marseille, for example, employees—with the support of two classes from Lycée Pastré – Grande Bastille—worked alongside residents to renovate the common areas of the Salvation Army Foundation.

In Tours, a group of dedicated employees renovated the offices and landscaped the grounds of the Association Enfance et Pluriel, which provides support services for young people with disabilities and their families throughout the Indre-et-Loire department.

In Les Ulis, the windows, green spaces, and access points to the Emmaüs site have been restored to support the community-based facility.

In Toulouse, Bagnols-sur-Cèze, and Montélimar, employees renovated the reception areas and food distribution centers of Secours Populaire, helping to combat poverty and social exclusion.

In Creil, the offices of COALIA—an organization that provides social assistance and support for housing in social housing complexes, social advancement, and medical-social care—have been renovated.

In addition to painting and renovating spaces, these days are marked by opportunities for Group employees, students, and beneficiaries of local organizations or shelters to meet and interact. It is a time to gain a deeper understanding of the urgent needs of people living in precarious situations.
